Mercedes Benz will now compete in the F1 Championship under the name “Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team” as opposed to the current name, “Mercedes GP Petronas Formula 1 Team”.
"We are very proud to reveal our new team name today. It adds another strong performance element to our team's identity and, by virtue of being shared between Brackley and Brixworth, will forge even stronger links within our team.” said Team principal Ross Brawn.
For over 40 years, AMG has been the proud performance division of Mercedes. The AMG nametag is not a stranger in motorsport world considering its great achievements of winning over 160 races in DTM, German touring car racing series

Codenamed F1 WO3, the 2012 season car is already well put in progress expected to replace current F1 WO2 chasis. It is set to make a track debut next year in Barcelona, Spain. So far, the debut is scheduled in 21st February during the second winter test.
