Scania Aims To Sell 630 Trucks, Buses In Malaysia Next Year, Says MD

Scania (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, manufacturer of heavy trucks and buses, aims to sell some 630 vehicles in Malaysia next year, Managing Director, James Armstrong, said Friday.
The target was a 15 per cent growth from 550 vehicles sold this year, he said.
"This year will be a 15 per cent growth from 2009, we are anticipating the same next year," he said after handing over the 400th Scania prime mover truck to Kontena Nasional Bhd today.
Of the 550 units sold this year, 220 were prime mover trucks, another 15 per cent prime movers' sales growth in Malaysia than in 2009, he said.
Armstrong also said Scania will open new workshops in Port Dickson and Kota Baharu next year, bringing to nine the number of workshops the company has in Malaysia.
"We also have two mobile workshops and are looking forward to introduce an enhanced version of one of our truck variants next year," he said.
Serving some 400 clients in Malaysia, Armstrong said Scania recognised Malaysia as a growth source and would tap more business and investment opportunities.
Scania Malaysia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scania CV AB, a public-listed company on the Swedish Stock Exchange.
The company is the sole importer, assembler and distributor of new Scania trucks and buses chassis in Malaysia and provides a full range of after-sales services.
